Neighbor of Jalisco, Michoacán is one of the provinces that claims supremacy in folk music and dance.

The pirecuas, el valseado, and el zapateado abajeño, which characterize this region, symbolize with great beauty the work done in the fields, and the fisherman's activities.

This celebration's principal intention is to preserve the memory of the ancient customs of the towns surrounding the lake of Pátzceuaro.

The costumes reflect the great humility and hard work of the people of this region.
