President’s CBR Message:

Since this is our 8th Anniversary of the CBR, and Its time to give something

to the communities that we visit. I propose that we start this year off with

something that's badly needed and easy for us as a unit to handle. Hunger is

a horrible thing for families to endure. This is one thing we can do to help

people that are not as fortunate as we are.

Food is something most of us take for granted, but for many, it's a luxury

they cannot afford. I challenge each rally attendee to bring donations of

the following food to the CBR to donate to our first local food drive.

The "WBCCI - Washington DC Unit CBR Food Bank Drive"

MOST NEEDED FOODS INCLUDE:

* Canned tuna, salmon, chicken, ham * Chili * Soups and stews * Canned

fruits and vegetables * Canned and packaged beans * Pasta, macaroni and

cheese

* Rice * Peanut butter (plastic jars) * Canned juices * Canned baby food (no

jars) * Canned evaporated skim milk * Cereals (hot and cold) * Personal

hygiene articles

* Home cleaning products

Help us make a difference in someone's life by proving a well need meal.

Dave Morrison & Pete Daniel’s Excellent Adventure!

The Washington DC Unit is hosting an Airstream Rally at Crawfish Fest
2008 in NJ.  All RV'ers who are reading this are welcome.  We have worked it
out with the festival organizer to coordinate all Airstreamers into the same
camping area – “Camp Madisonville”.  This area of the fairgrounds offers
electric hook-up service and a local dump station.

You need to pay two things:

1.    the Festival Fee

2.     the Camping Fee.

These are paid to the Festival itself, not the WDCU.

Go to http://www.crawfishfest.com to register

I can tell you last years event was very hot and my AC unit was running all
weekend long - if you like AC when it's hot out - go for the 30 amp service!

Please let us know if you are coming by
signing up at the AirForums.com Rally page (you must register there to do
so) or send me (Dave) or Pete Daniel (WDCU Pres.) an email.

Food – the Friday night is provided by the festival. Rally goers will need to

provide their meals for the rest of the weekend. Plenty of onsite food will be

available for purchase including breakfast and Bloody Mary’s for those so

inclined.

Summation: This is an expensive Rally but offers an amazing value for

attendees. With lots of great music and good food – good times and memories in

the making can’t be far behind. A Rally like this should go a long way in

appealing to new Airstreamers who have yet to see the benefits of joining the

WBCCI. This event should enable both Units to reach out to new prospective

club members.

The festival is also working to bring in Colonial Airstream as an event sponsor to

display new trailers at the event. Dave Starin, General Manager at Colonial

Airstream, has already offered to donate give-aways for the Rally attendees. I’m

sure we will be able to tap Colonials customer database to extend Rally invites to

their recent customers.

This event is a buddy Rally and opened to AirForum.com members as

well.

Crawfish Fest is a true delight.  ALL the ingredients are there for
a really special weekend with a little BAM thrown in.  The festival offers a
family friendly environment with the best music and food in the mix.

June 19 – 23: East Coast Vintage RallyStaunton, Virginia

Location: Shenandoah Valley KOA

Contact: Paul Waddell (balloon@rideair.com)

The "East Coast VAC Rally" will be held during the dates of "June 19, 2008-June 23, 2008" which is a Thursday - Monday. The rally will be held at the "KOA" in "Staunton, Virginia". Staunton, Virginia is located off I-81 between I-66 & I-64 in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

The "KOA" offers things for the family with kids and the kids at heart. Nestled within a 1˝ Miles Horse Shoe Bend of Middle River. SVKOA is the only campground in Virginia with a spectacular Waterfall and four 6-person Indoor Hot Tubs. They offer Free Wi-Fi, River Tubing, Wading and Trout and Bass Fishing in the River as well as Trout and Bass Fishing in their Well-Stocked Lake. They have a Huge Pool and a Kiddie Pool, 18 Hole Mini-Golf, Game Room and Two Playgrounds …and Nature Trails. You’ll be greeted by Tame Bunnies, Squirrels, and Ducks on your way to the Pitstop Cafe for a Pizza. You can pitch Horseshoes, play sand Volleyball or cool off under the refreshing Waterfall. On summer nights sing Karaoke (Fridays) and dance to their DJ (Saturdays).

Here's how you need to sign up for the rally. "You need" to call the "campground" and make your own reservations. Let them know you are with the "Airstream" group. Since their sites range in size, we ask those of you that have the smaller trailers (16-21 footers) please let them know (we're trying to save the longer sites for longer trailers).

I have on hold 48 sites that have water/electric ($34-37 a night). They have about 12 more sites that have water/electric/sewer ($39-42 a night) that require a credit card to hold them . They also have many other sites at the campground that can be used.

July 2 – July 5 :  Star Quest Event  - Green Bank, West Virginia

Contact Bill Jacobs  for a educational astronomy weekend.  Here is a link to the event: http://www.greenbankstarquest.org/index.html

If you want to go, sign up with the Greenbank people. This was on the rally schedule last year, but this year it is not an official WDCU rally. It’s a great science filled weekend, and a great opportunity to use your Airstream!  The fee is about $55 per person for 2 nights, or $75 for 4 nights. The campground has electric. Classes in astronomy are available .
