Volume 1, Number 4
February 20, 2000

Greetings once again WDCUers. As the snow is beginning to finally disappear in DC, it's time to begin getting ready for the 'streaming season. But the first news is that as of January 21st, 2000, the WBCCI governing board, the IBT, voted unanimously to grant a permanent Unit charter to the Washington DC Unit! This means that for now on we will be able to participate in the WBCCI as full Unit members. WBCCI Headquarters (HQ) has also forwarded all the Member-at-large surcharge fees collected from Charter members during our Unit organization. Much of the ease of our application going through so smoothly must be credited to Region 2 President Wilson Yerk for his tireless and thorough preparation in helping form our Unit Constitution and By-Laws. Thank-you Wilson.

Our Unit has also continued to grow. We now have 30 dues paying members and 15 affiliate members where a listing of our current membership is attached. Please check the listing and let us know whether your listed information is correct. Note that we now have members from the UK, VT, NH, MI, FL, TX, CO, AZ and now CA!! We are truly representative of the "Federal City."

In fact, the WDCU has received notice of a possible Rally this summer in London! The WDCU Chair of the European Division, Anthony Slocock, has purchased a 1959 Pacer and is in the process of importing it into the UK for a possible late July get together. He also has been hard at work in setting up a web site known as Eurostream.net for debut later this year. We will link this site onto the VAC site (http://www.vac.airstream.net) once it is completed. Anthony will be in attendance at the WDCU Cherry Blossom Rally in April so he will provide an update of the European Division events at that time.

Soooo, that lead us to our upcoming Cherry Blossom Rally (CBR) for April 6th to 9th at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. The preregistrations have been slow so please send in your check to WDCU Treasurer Ruth Baldwin as soon as possible. Our original request was to send the preregistration in before the end of February for $130 and after that the fee would be $140. We are now moving that back to March 15th but please, we need to receive these reservations very soon so that we can plan accordingly. I provided more information about the CBR in our last email posting so if you do not have it then let me know and I'll forward you a copy.

See the activities page for the latest information on the Cherry Blossom Rally.

After the CBR, the WDCU will be participating in the Region 2 Rally in Kutztown, PA. The Rally is May 25th to May 29th with preregistrations due no later than May 15th. Full information including a registration form can be found at http://region2.wbcci.org/kutztown.html. There will be special vintage Airstream parking and the WDCU will be hosting a vintage Open House event on Saturday, May 27th. This spot is very close to where we had our kick-off Rally last November so it sure will be fun to duplicate that enthusiasm.

It would also be nice for folks that are planning to attend the International Rally this summer in Bismarck to let me know so that I can get an idea of the number of participants and possible planning of Unit get togethers. We also need to create a Unit bulletin board so ideas and volunteers are being requested.

WDCUer Karen Waldo (kewaldo@pathway.net) and her sister Ellen have formed a couple of possible Unit logos. I have attached a copy of two logos so let us know what you think so that we might finalize our selection and move forward.

All for now, looking forward to seeing everyone at the CBR!!
